Dear Confederation Club Members & Supporters,
We cordially invite you and new guests to join us for an evening with Michael Chong ,MP.
Michael Chong was first elected to Parliament in 2004, winning 7 consecutive elections in the riding of Wellington Halton Hills. He currently serves as Shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs for the Official Opposition, speaking out on issues regarding China, Ukraine, Israel, and many other parts of the world.
In 2006, Michael served in the federal cabinet as President of the Queen’s Privy Council, Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister for Sport. Michael has been Chair of the several House of Commons Standing Committees (Industry, Science and Technology; Canadian Heritage; Official Languages).
In 2015, Michael’s Reform Act passed Parliament to address a long-standing problem in Ottawa: the concentration of power in party leaders. It gives MPs more power to represent their constituents and Canadians. Michael was able to reach across the aisle and work with members from other parties to secure the bill’s passage.
Michael lives just outside of Fergus in Wellington County, with his wife Carrie Davidson and 3 sons.
