Dr. Dorothy  Nyambi
CEO and President of MEDA (Mennonite Economic Development Associates)
Dorothy's 25+ years career in the international and entrepreneurial sectors is informed by her unique life experiences working on the ground in developing countries in long-term development and humanitarian aid, with a lifelong focus to ensure women and girls are not left behind.

Beginning her career as a medical doctor, Dr. Dorothy Nyambi later moved into the field of international development. Prior to joining MEDA, she was Executive Vice President of the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) and worked for organizations like the U.S. Peace Corps, World Health Organization and USAID.

Bilingual in English and French, Dorothy has a tested C-suite experience across executive roles and organizational phases of start-up, rapid growth, crisis and turnaround. Her professional experience
spans work across Africa, North America, Eastern Europe, Asia, Latin America & Caribbean, and the Middle East.Passionate about Gender Equality and inclusion, Dorothy has been a leader and founding member of Gender Summit Africa; member of AWID for the past 15 years; Member of the Board Room Africa, which is focused on mentoring and getting young African women into governance roles across the continent; and board director with the Kigali Collaborative Research Centre(KCRC) under the Carnegie Mellon University Africa.

Dorothy is an advocate for blended finance initiatives in the international development sector and a champion of women’s rights around the world. Her experiences in the field have affirmed that entrepreneurship is a powerful way to alleviate poverty and empower sustainable communities.
