Sean is Senior Vice President with Ipsos in Canada, leading its corporate reputation and public-opinion polling practices. He has been with Ipsos for 18 years. Sean earned a BA and MA in Political Science from Wilfrid Laurier University, studying under the late Dr. Barry Kay. Sean’s recent research with CIGI, a local thinktank, has been awarded by the Canadian Research Insights Council for its impact on Public Policy, and he and Dr. Darrell Bricker both received awards from the Radio Television Digital News Association for their contributions to broadcast journalism in Canada. He will be speaking on The Current State of the Canadian Automotive Industry. Scott MacKenzie is responsible for all External Affairs functions for Toyota’s Manufacturing and Sales operations across Canada, as well as several corporate functions specific to our manufacturing operations, including Strategic Planning and Corporate Governance. Prior to assuming this position, Mr. Mackenzie has held various positions in both technical and administrative roles across both companies. Scott joined Toyota in 1999, working in Manufacturing Operations before moving to a position in Quality Control. Jess Dixon who was born in Victoria, British Columbia, moved to Cambridge with her parents at age seven. She received her undergraduate degree in Philosophy from the University of Guelph, with an informal minor in Middle Eastern history and philosophy, completing her law degree at the University of Ottawa, graduating in 2013. In late 2014, MPP Dixon began work at the Kitchener Crown Attorney’s office. Since then, she had the privilege to work in several crown offices and courthouses, as well as serve as both a federal and provincial prosecutor. Jess never had any intention of becoming a politician. She loved her job as a crown. However, over the years frustration with “the system” began to grow. MPP Dixon is a big proponent of the concept that “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” Jess Dixon has been the MPP for Kitchener South – Hespeler since June 2022. She is now the Parliamentary Assistant to the Associate Minister of Women’s Social and Economic Opportunity. She is a member of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts and the Standing Committee on the Justice Policy. As a member of the Standing Committee on the Justice Policy, she is the government lead for the Intimate Partner Violence Sub-committee. Michael Chong was first elected to Parliament in 2004, winning 7 consecutive elections in the riding of Wellington Halton Hills. He currently serves as Shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs for the Official Opposition, speaking out on issues regarding China, Ukraine, Israel, and many other parts of the world. In 2006, Michael served in the federal cabinet as President of the Queen’s Privy Council, Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister for Sport. Michael has been Chair of the several House of Commons Standing Committees (Industry, Science and Technology; Canadian Heritage; Official Languages). In 2015, Michael’s Reform Act passed Parliament to address a long-standing problem in Ottawa: the concentration of power in party leaders. It gives MPs more power to represent their constituents and Canadians. Michael was able to reach across the aisle and work with members from other parties to secure the bill’s passage.
